In 2007, The New7Wonders Foundation announced the seven new wonders of the world after, allegedly, almost 100 million votes came in. While the list is controversial in the international World-Heritage community, there’s no doubt the seven sites are travel-worthy.
This week we’ll see what Expedia travelers have to say about these fantastic sites.
Christ the Redeemer Statue, Rio de Janeiro:
- Mercure Niteroi Orizzonte: “…the views across the bay to sugar loaf and Christ the redeemer are superb.”
- Windsor Plaza Copacabana Hotel: “…We took a city tour of Rio, which included lunch, tickets to Christ the Redeemer, and the gondola to Sugar Loaf. We most definitely would return to the Windsor Plaza.”
- Porto Bay Rio Internacional Hotel: “Beautiful room with a balcony overlooking the beach, and in the other direction, Christ the Redeemer…”
- Marina Palace Hotel: “Marina Palace is a decent hotel, a bit on the pricey side, but that’s mostly because you’re paying for the view, Leblon/Ipanema beach and Christ the Redeemer can be seen from the window…”
- Orla Copacabana Hotel: “We were very impressed with the city, hotel, and people in Brazil…Hotel location is amazing; it’s right by Ipanema and you can see Sugar Loaf and Christ the Redeemer from the beach. The rooftop is quite small but the view compensates for it all!!!!!”
Great Wall of China:
- Lee Garden Service Apartments: “Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and wished it could have been longer…It was close to shops, Forbidden City, Tienanmen Square and also a short ride to The Great Wall of China…”
- Jade Garden Hotel Beijing: “…Staff were friendly, and booked a good great wall trip for us. Clean, v close forbidden city…”
- The Opposite House: “This hotel is a great way to enjoy Beijing…it is near many restaurants, bars, shopping and sights and the staff are incredible. They arranged a fantastic trip to the Great Wall within 10 minutes (thank you, Calvin!) and all other services were great…”
- Howard Johnson Paragon Hotel Beijing: “With a subway station at the hotel’s rear entrance, you can reach most of Beijing, the airport train, and even the buses to the Great Wall for a price much less than that of a subway ride in New York City…”
- Hotel Kapok Wangfujing: “…Tours can be booked in the business office; we opted for a private driver and tour guide to see the Great Wall and Summer Palace, because none of the canned tours met our needs…”
